Agree with @lnewton88 on clarity, but what moved our numbers was pacing: we offset lane B by about 2 seconds via the headset and had the right-lane taker end with “you’ll tuck in after the next car,” which metered the merge without extra labor. Can you stagger confirmations just during 7:30–8:15?

We cut that delay by turning off upsells during the morning window and switching to a ‘no confirm unless change’ script, which kept both lanes rolling and shaved about 10–12 sec at the pinch. @lnewton88, did you try killing the voice promos during peak? A single ‘Wait here’ hash one car-length before the merge also prevents the slow-motion staring contest without changing staffing.

Try a tiny priority cue: as soon as the POS closes, the taker says “you’re up — pull ahead” or “you’re next — follow them,” plus a small “listen for cue” sticker at the funnel so drivers expect it. We had the same 7:30–8:15 blip and fixed it by planting a single tall delineator post at the merge tip, offset about 18 inches into the near lane so the far lane naturally rolls and cars “zipper” without a pause. No extra labor, just an adhesive base; small caveat: it only works if your pinch leaves mirror clearance, so test with your widest vehicle. Do you have at least 9’6" at the funnel?
